Thought about last Friday - what we ate for lunch a day before race day. No ordinary carb load . Went a bit ethnic. Savoured Cape Malay Bobotie, national dish of South Africa - a sweet savoury meatloaf topped with baked egg custard served with turmeric rice. Steeped in history originated when the Dutch brought slaves from Java during 17th and 18th centuries. Then being adapted so it palatable to the European taste and using spices available from the spice trading route. Cape Malay dishes usually sweeter, mellow and subtle in spiciness in comparison to present day cuisine in Malaysia and Indonesia in term of taste. The other dish ordered was Denning Vleis came with tenderly cooked lamb in sweet sour brown onion tamarind sauce. @tagoods washed down well with a glass of mint milk shake. My second visit to this little corner joint in Bokaap didn't disappoint. Should try to cook bobotie at home like @molonebr did ๐Ÿ˜€. Have you tried? Any recipe to share? ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
